EDITORIAL EXPERTISE
Extensive writing and editing experience: corporate communications, advertising copywriting, press releases, media pitches, editorial features.

  • Served as editor of American Express' global intranet, sourcing stories to highlight company successes, product launches, employee profiles, etc. to engage and inform employees. Curated homepage as well as executive blogging program. Conceived and created new feature series "Eye On..." to explore business units in depth. Created documentation for editorial and visual style guides, compliance documents, instructional manuals, etc.

  • Managed website relaunch of world's largest education publisher, Pearson Education, overseeing design and architecture comprising more than 50 previously separate companies and imprints. Wrote press releases and media pitches for diverse array of products and programs.

  • Edited Scholastic Inc's first bi-annual Technology Buyers Guide for educators, administrators and Technology Directors. Researched tech companies and products, wrote all copy, managed copyediting and proofreading teams.

WEB STRATEGY & DESIGN
Able to produce a website from conception to launch and beyond, to tell a story through words, images, colors and actions and engage stakeholders from the first click.

  • Proficient with most content management systems, including Sharepoint, and authoring tools including Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc, as well as hand-coded HTML and CSS. Highly proficient with Photoshop, Illustrator. Familiar with HTML, CSS, php, flash, javascript, video editing, graphic optimization, web architecture, user interface and acceptance testing.

  • Familiar with W3C web standards, including accessibility standards, and search engine optimization (SEO).

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Core team member of American Express' first social media program. Worked with internal stakeholders including business units, public relations and general counsel's office to promote products and programs through Facebook and Twitter.

  • Managed numerous internal social projects for American Express:  research, vendor relations, testing, design, implementation, governance and "socializing" of enterprise social tools from discussion boards to executive blogging to "Facebook for employees," e.g., Jive, Newsgator, Salesforce.com, etc.
